South Carolina Third Option Accountability

Alliance Homeschool provides families with legal status to operate a Home School under Section 59-65-47 (3rd Option) of South Carolina's Education laws. We make sure legal guardians/ parents are in compliance with the following state standards:

  • 1. Have at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • 2. Have an instructional year of at least 180 days
  • 3. The curriculum includes, but is not limited to, reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. In grades 7-12, composition and literature.
  • 4. Education records will be kept and maintained by the parent-teacher and will include the following:
  • a) a plan book, diary, or other record indicating subjects taught and activities in which the student and parent teacher engage
  • b) a portfolio of samples of the student’s academic work
  • c) a semiannual progress report including attendance records and individualize documentation of the student’s academic progress in each of the basic instructional are as specified above

    In addition to making sure the parent-teacher is in compliance of the standards listed above, Alliance Homeschool also provides the following immediately upon approval of your application:

    1. Legal status to operate your Home School in South Carolina
    2. Audit support in the event your Home School is questioned by the authorities
    3. Forms available via our Member's Only section of our web page or email to help you meet all the legal requirements for South Carolina
    4. Templates to help you with things like creating transcripts, diplomas, portfolios, and progress reports
    5. Membership cards available to print at any time via our Member's Only section of our web page.
    6. Access to a team of administrators (who are also homeschooling Mamas) dedicated to supporting you via email, text, or phone call.
    7. Free participation in the annual graduation ceremony for Kindergarten and high school seniors (gown included; cap and tassel NOT included).
    8. Online calendar of events via FaceBook and partnerships with Midlands area co-ops
    9. Free access to our support groups (park days, field trips, special events, etc.)
    10. Networking opportunities with other homeschoolers state-wide and locally
